Before and after

No sales pitch. No obligation. If microcement is not right for your home, we will tell you, and point you in the right direction.

Is this you?

You want a home that feels like this

  • A bathroom that feels like a boutique hotel: seamless walls and floor, no grout lines, nothing to scrub.
  • Floors that flow from room to room without a single join, so the whole house feels bigger and calmer.
  • A finish that looks hand-crafted and one of a kind, not like every other renovated home in Melbourne.
  • Surfaces that are easy to live with: wipe down, done.
  • A result that still looks the way you pictured it years from now, not just on handover day.

And you want it done properly

That's what MicroLux brings.

  • We check what's underneath first. Moisture, movement and substrate are tested before anything is quoted, so you're not paying for a finish that cracks or lifts.
  • One proven system. Atria Super Titanium from Italy, applied exactly as designed, with nothing skipped or substituted.
  • One team for the whole job. We handle the prep and the finish, we can coordinate the other trades, and you're kept updated throughout.
  • A written warranty on our workmanship, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the system.
  • One team for the whole job. We handle the prep and the finish, we can coordinate the other trades, and you're kept updated throughout.
  • Straight answers. If microcement isn't right for your space, we'll tell you.

It's probably not for you if

  • You're comparing quotes on price per square metre.
  • You want a quick cosmetic fix before selling.
  • You want a perfectly uniform, factory finish. Porcelain tile may suit you better.
  • You need it done next week. We take on 3 to 4 projects a month.

The risk no one talks about

Microcement has become popular, and almost everyone now claims to install it. The result is a lot of finishes that crack, lift or look patchy within a few years.

Failures usually come down to a combination of three things: a cheaper product or the wrong type of system for the job, a substrate that wasn't properly checked, and shortcuts in installation. We remove all three: a premium Italian system chosen for the job, a tested and prepared substrate, and a documented installation process.

Common questions

Microcement is a thin, hand-applied coating that creates one seamless surface across floors, walls and wet areas, with no grout lines. We install one system only: Atria Super Titanium, made in Italy. It's a premium polyurethane-based microcement, finished with Atria's protective topcoat, and we never substitute products mid-job.

We price the project, not the square metre, because preparation and detail are where the quality comes from. As a guide, most bathrooms sit between $12,000 and $25,000 + GST, and an open-plan floor of around 100 m² typically sits between $35,000 and $40,000 + GST. You'll get a realistic range on your first call, and a fixed written price after your on-site consultation.

Often, yes, which means far less demolition, dust and disruption. Tiles need to be sound and well bonded, so at your consultation we check for movement, moisture and hollow tiles first. If they aren't suitable, we'll tell you before you commit.

Yes, microcement is ideal for showers and wet areas when it's installed correctly. In every wet area our finish goes over a compliant waterproofing membrane, and the Atria system is sealed to keep water out of the surface. Microcement itself isn't a substitute for waterproofing, which is why we coordinate both as one system.

It can, when the product isn't right for the job, the substrate isn't properly prepared, or the installation is rushed. That's why we use one premium Italian system, assess what's underneath before quoting, respect movement and control joints, and follow a documented process. It's also backed by our 5-year written workmanship warranty.

A typical bathroom takes around 7 working days to install, then about 7 days to cure before use. Floors depend on the area. You get a written program before we start, and if we finish late because of us, we credit you $250 per working day. If we're doing one bathroom and you have another to use, most clients stay home, and we protect the work areas and capture dust at the source. When we're doing several bathrooms or a whole floor at once, most clients plan a short holiday or stay elsewhere, and we'll plan the timing with you.

It doesn't have to be. For bathroom and wet-area floors we use a finish with more grip than polished surfaces, and we'll show you the options at your consultation so you can feel the texture before choosing.

Very. The Atria system is hard-wearing and finished with a protective topcoat made for daily use. Like any premium surface it should be treated with care, so use felt pads under furniture and wipe up spills promptly, and it will keep looking the way you pictured it.

Simply wipe it down with a pH-neutral cleaner. There's no grout to scrub. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads. We give you a MicroLux care kit and guide at handover, check the finish at 12 months, and remind you when a re-seal is due, usually every 3 to 5 years depending on use.

Yes. Choose from a range of natural tones, and see physical samples in your space before you commit. Because every surface is applied by hand, it has subtle natural movement and character. That's what gives microcement its depth, and why no two projects look the same.
